Come See Debbie & Friends at the Long Island Children’s Museum w/ a Family 4-Pack of Tickets! (CLOSED)

Last year around this time, I wrote about the smiliest woman I’ve ever met.  It was the first time I got to see the award-winning Debbie and Friends perform and it was just as wonderful meeting Debbie in person.  I’m excited to share that you’ll also get the opportunity to see her as Debbie and Friends is coming back to the Long Island Children’s Museum (LICM) on Saturday, February 11 for two shows, 1pm and 3pm (and I’m giving away tickets-keep reading below!)

Paula Slade of “In My Humble Opinion” also raves about the Debbie and Friends’ show:

An extraordinary group of polished musicians, Debbie and Friends takes children’s entertainment to joyful levels, where even parents, grandparents and care givers sing-along, play-along, stomp their feet and clap in time – myself included in that 440 seat interactive audience.

Right from the start of the opening number “I’m Glad You’re Here,” and all the way through to the closing song there was no time for little ones getting restless or whining, as Debbie Cavalier and her band seamlessly delivered an engaging performance that kept the multiple generations mesmerized and involved. At times, it was difficult to discern who was having more fun, the musicians or the audience.

Debbie has been making music with kids for over 20 years where she’s worked with some of the world’s greatest icons in children’s music entertainment and education.  These pillars of children’s music include Shari Lewis, Buffalo Bob Smith of Howdy Doody, and Sesame Street-famed music teacher, Bob McGrath.  It’s quite evident where she gets her influence as Debbie takes a unique and creative approach to sharing music with families.  Debbie is also the Dean of Continuing Education of Berklee College of Music, where she studied music and music education.  She was a classroom music teacher for many years and brings that experience to every performance.

If you have a chance, I strongly urge you to see one of Debbie and Friends’ performances – it’ll be a memorable experience for you and your children.  Find out if she’s playing near you by visiting her website for a schedule of performances.

Tickets for the February 11 show are $4 with LICM admission ($3 if you are a member), or $8 for the theater show only.  For more information, call the Museum at (516) 224-5800 or visit  The Long Island Children’s Museum is located at 11 Davis Avenue in Garden City, NY.

A live Debbie and Friends show, perfect for families with kids ages 2-8, is fun for the whole family.  This Boston-based band plays fun songs in a variety of styles, from pop, to country, rock, and reggae.  Puppets and performance cartoons are part of every show.  Winner of more than 20 National Awards including CBS Boston Best Local Children’s Musician,
Nickelodeon Parents Pick Award,
Boston Children’s Music Performance Award, Debbie and Friends also has a song on a 2011 Grammy-Nominated CD for Best Children’s Album! Debbie’s shows are engaging, interactive, and fun!  Kids love being active participants in every song, and the audience is as much a part of the show as Debbie and her band.
