Product Feature: A Gift of Health

With Mother’s Day and Father’s Day fast approaching, I’m sure many of you are thinking of gift ideas for your spouses, parents, grandparents or any deserving parent in general.  What if you can give the gift of easing back pains, lower blood pressure and lower cholesterol, enhanced stamina and many other health benefits?  Well these are some of the many benefits of walking.  I can’t think of a better motivational and tracking device than a pedometer.  Personally, a pedometer makes walking more enjoyable.  Now you can track how far you walk during the day whether it’s outdoors or at the job and how many calories you burned daily from walking.  If you have multiple pedometers, you can start a challenge with friends and family, ultimately promoting a healthier lifestyle.

EB Sport Group’s Sportline Snapshot Pedometer 308 is a great way to encourage a fit lifestyle.  It gauges how much walking is done and how many calories are burned in any time interval you choose.  As a gadget geek, I’ll admit that I never had a pedometer before and always wanted one.  Once I received this product, I was pleasantly surprised with its ease of use and thoroughly impressed with its customizations.  Simply put, I pulled the protective screen off the device, pulled the plastic film off the bottom of the unit to engage the battery.  It asked for my weight and height.  Then it asked me for my stride length.  Don’t know your stride length?  No worries, this is why it asked for your weight and height.  The Snapshot Pedometer simply asks in case you need to adjust your stride length, otherwise it will set accordingly.  The instruction manual inside the packaging describes how you can measure your stride in case you feel that you take shorter/longer steps than approximated by your weight and height.  The LCD panel measures 5 essential fitness readings, number of Steps, Distance, Calories, Average Pace and Actual Time walking/running. The Snapshot Pedometer 308 only has 4 buttons on it, so it is extremely easy to use.  The button on the front is a Reset button, so you can start tracking a new workout.  There are 3 buttons on the back. There is a Set button on the back and a (+) and (–) button for adjusting your height or weight.

The device on average retails for $29.99 and can be found in Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amazon and many other stores that offer health/training products.  In addition to all this, purchasing the product entitles you to a year’s subscription of Men’s Health and/or Women’s Health magazine.

I use to have a pedometer, but lost it. Tried to walk 10,000 steps a day which was more doable when I lived in the city. I think it makes for a great gift for the health conscious dad.
